Nokia N810 gets long-awaited WiMAX support

In this week CTIA Wireless 2008 show, Nokia finally announced that its popular Internet Tablets offers integrated support for WiMAX. The new Nokia N810 WiMAX Internet Tablet Edition provides out-of-the-box WiMAX connectivity.

The hardware is very similar to the original N810, with the addition of a small antenna on the back side and a slightly different color. Apart from the additional radio for WiMAX, the internals are the same, the HS-400 MHz TI OMAP 2420 CPU, 128 MB of DDR RAM and 256 MB of Flash RAM, will remain unchanged. Chris Staley, Nokia VP of Sales, Ars said that the WiMAX-enabled N810 will be some firmware improvements and an update to the Linux Internet Tablet OS 2008, the improved e-mail client, seamless software update functionality (the manual updates), and support for Chinese characters in the browser rendering and RSS feeds. The N810 reserves the 4.13 “800×480 display and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
