Adobe Joins Content Fray With Media Player 1.0 And Adobe TV

Adobe on Wednesday in the highly prized market for digital content and media playback software with the beginnings of Media Player 1.0 and Adobe TV.

Media Player 1.0 is Adobe response to Microsoft’s Windows Media Player, RealNetworks RealPlayer and Apple’s iTunes.

Adobe believes it has an advantage that, in its new Media Player, consumers can download digital content, such as films, television programs and music on the Internet without the launch of its Web browser.

“We, the audience, content owners and retail trade, with an experience that is not of their platform or force the application of proprietary software,” said John Loiacono, Adobe Senior Vice President innovative solutions , in a statement.

Media Player 1.0, users can also provide high-definition video content in a resolution of 1080i, 720p, 480i, and it supports Adobe Flash compatible programs.
